Universiti Putra Malaysia ( UPM ) has started offering Bachelor of Communications in 1998 with four specializations: Broadcasting, Journalism , Corporate Communication and Human Communication . To support the academic program , UPM has built facilities such as photography lab, oratory lab and broadcasting lab. Broadcasting lab has two units: radio production unit and video production unit. Radio production unit has now been upgraded to become Campus Radio Stations.
Campus Radio Stations Universiti Putra Malaysia or known as Putra FM, is the first campus digital radio station among the institutes of higher education in the country. The design and the selection of appropriate equipment for this studio has been done with the help of the Radio Television Malaysia (RTM). UPM campus radio station has been operating under the auspices of RTM, and in particular Selangor FM. This continuing cooperation with the RTM is in line with the MoU which was signed previously.
Putra FM 's program emphasizes on adult education by providing education programs, information and entertainment . As Putra FM is meant to be used for academic purposes, the surrounding community will benefit from it, especially in terms of culture exposure, science and technology, including the information and communication technology.
