Kuala Lipis - Ahmad Akfhikrey Ahmad Japar, a Malay Language and Linguistics student at the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, UPM won the fourth place in the Student Talent Development Programme 2018, organised by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education.
The first place was awarded to a participant from International Islamic University Malaysia (UIAM), followed by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and the second runner-up was from National Academy of Arts Culture and Heritage (ASWARA). The main objective of the programme was to guide students to better understand and appreciate literature.
The programme involving 20 participants from public universities, private universities, and Institutes of Teacher Education was held at the Tengku Ampuan Institute of Teacher Education, Kuala Lipis, Pahang.
Throughout UPM's participation which has been fully supported by the Student Affairs Division of UPM, participants have achieved second place in 2017 and fifth place in 2016. UPM participants were guided by Dr. Sharil Nizam Sha'ri and assisted by the Department of Malay Language lecturers, FBMK, UPM.
The participants were evaluated based on their preparation of research on the latest published literature by DBP and their presentation or performance which does not involve any element of debate and public speaking.
