MASTER OF MALAY LANGUAGE

Introduction

The programme aims to equip candidates with knowledge of theories and practices relevant to the field of Malay Language. In this programme, candidates are exposed to the latest developments in Malay Language and Linguistics. The programme aims to train professionals from the public and private sectors to be specialists in the Malay Language.

 

Admissin Requirement

  • Applicant must have a Bachelor's Degree with at least CGPA 2.75 in the field of Malay Language and Linguistics from a recognized university.
  • Applicant with a CGPA of less than 2.75 or equivalent, may be considered if they have relevant work experience at least 1 year in related fields.
  • Applicant who does not possess any qualifications in the field of Malay Language and Linguistics but obtains a CGPA of 3.00 can be considered for provisional admission (please refer to programme requirements)

 

Programme Requirements

a.        Credit Requirements 

Candidates who are pursuing this study need to complete 40 credits to graduate. The total credit hours covers compulsory courses, elective courses, and research projects, as follows:

Dissertation                                           6 credits

Master's Research Project Seminar      1 credit

iii. Preparatory Courses (3 courses)

Candidates who do not possess any qualification in the field of Malay Language and Linguistics but acquire a CGPA of 3.00 must take and pass 3 preparatory courses at the Bachelor level (latest by the second semester of their study) and must obtain a minimum grade of B+ for each of the courses.
